Hi all
is there a safe flea treatment spot on for cats?
I have read horror stories about Bob Martin and want to know if anything is safe?
Many seem to have Fipronil in the ingredients is this safe?

My vet recommends advantage for cats (Buy online - it's cheaper)

    I've never had an issue.

Always remember it is poison - be careful where you put it, wash your hands, and keep an eye on your cat's weight/dose
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I've used Advocate and Stronghold on my cats for around 15 years without any problems.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

My vet changed me from Frontline to Advocate. I get a prescription from the vet (£10) and then order online as it is a lot cheaper, even with having to pay for the prescription.
What goes around comes around.....I hope!
  • I've used Advantage with no issues for years. Buy online. No prescription needed. I don't treat mine monthly though as I'm not a big fan of using lots of chemicals. Maybe twice a year at most & I check all cats & dog for signs of fleas at least weekly.

Using Advantage like you are is a complete waste of time and the very definition of unnecessary chemicals. Advantage once or twice a year leaves vast windows during which the cat is not protected against fleas, so IMO there is no point in giving it all.

There is no point in protecting them for a couple of months a year and not the other ten. And using one month of Advantage won't be enough to treat any infestation if present.

Use flea treatments monthly or not at all as a preventative.
